Can I use Hydroponics Nutrients in soil?
Hydroponics Nutrients contain everything that a plant needs to grow, and the results are astonishing when used in water only. You can also use your Hydroponics nutrients to help your traditional soil garden grow.
The season for traditional Gardening has started, and you want to give your plants the best chance of survival, and get the highest yield possible. Most soil already contains the nutrients needed for plant growth, and trace elements including:
Nutrients
- Nitrogen (N)
- Phosphorus (P)
- Potassium (K)
- Calcium (Ca)
- Magnesium (Mg)
- Sulfur (S)
Trace elements
- Iron (Fe)
- Manganese (Mn)
- Copper (Cu)
- Zinc (Zn)
- Boron (B)
- Molybdenum (Mo)
This is great news and all the above will help your plants grow. If you really want to give them a boost however, you can add some more of the 3 main nutrients used in Hydroponics and plant growth, which are Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K) or NPK.
What is in Hydroponics Nutrients?
Most Hydroponics nutrients contain 3 of the 6 macronutrients or NPK in different ratios that your plant requires to grow.
They will be written out like this:
Example of Tri Part from Terra Aquatica.
The numbers represent the ratios of Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K) and are a percentage found in the solution. Tri Part Grow for example contains, 3% Nitrogen (N), 1% Phosporus (P), and 6% Potassium (K). The rest is made up of micronutrients.

How To Use Hydroponic Nutrients In Soil
All Hydroponics Nutrients come with a feed chart from the manufacturer that tells you the recommended amounts of each solution to use, at different stages of growth. Tri Part from Terra Aquatica is no exception.
All of their Nutrients can be used in either Hydroponics systems, Coco Coir, and Soil. See our Redesigned Feed Chart below for TriPart in Soil.

Things to consider when using Hydroponics Nutrients in Soil
Looking at the above feed chart you can see how much of each solution in ml is recommended by Terra Aquatica for each stage of your plants growth. In our experience however, these recommendations are a little bit strong.
For the very early stages of growth whilst your plant is establishing roots, and finding its way into the soil below, we would recommend using just water.
When your plant has grown some roots, and has started producing leaves, you can then start to add Hydroponics Nutrients to your watering schedule.
As mentioned above, your soil should already contain some amounts of NPK, so we recommend that you use a very diluted solution when watering with Hydroponics Nutrients.
We also suggest that you only water with nutrients every other time.
This way your plant will not be too shocked in the early stages, and when it has produced some roots it will get a much needed boost from the addition of some extra NPK.
Hydroponics Nutrients that we recommend
This is our go to Hydroponics Nutrient, and can be used in Hydroponics, Coco Coir, and Soil. See the back of the bottle for feed charts, or grab our PDF download below:

TriPart comes in 3 different sizes:
- 0.5 liter Start pack
- 1 liter
- 5 liter
This Nutrient solution in our opinion is one of the best out there, and very versatile.
As mentioned above, we also think that their recommended doses are a little bit high, which is great for you as the bottle will go much further when you use less for each stage of growth.
