Nutrients are essential for plants to grow. Plant Nutrients consist of 3 main elements. nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) or NPK.
When growing in soil these three nutrients are sometimes readily avaliable, and sometimes not. When growing in a hydroponics system just using water, Nutrients are added in Liquid form, and contain a perfect balance of all 3 elements or NPK.
Hydroponics Nutrients are aften in 3 different parts, each part with a slightly different balance of NPK in for different stages of a plants growth. For example, the first nutrient added in Terra Aquatica’s TriPart is called Grow, and contains much higher levels of nitrogen (N), than the other 2 elements.
Nitrogen (N) is most important when growing leaves, and branches. Leafy greens like Salad for example, like to grow in a more nitrogen rich Nutrient solution, so they can grow nice big green leaves.
