Basil (Ocimum basilicum)

Essential for authentic Italian cuisine, basil has a strong scent, a distinctive fresh flavour and grows quickly.

Contains 20 seeds. Height: Up to 45cm.

Instructions

  • Put 5-7 seeds evenly on the growing medium in the Botanium. Don’t cover the seeds.
  • Grow in a bright window or under a grow lamp.
  • Seedlings appear in 7-14 days.
  • Harvest the top leaves after 30 days of growth, leaving at least 50% of the plant to regrow.

Chilli (Capsicum annum)

A compact yet productive variety, this plant produces an abundance of colourful chilli peppers with moderate heat. An attractive chilli plant and perfect for Botanium.

Contains 6 seeds. Height: Up to 40cm.

Instructions

  • Plant 2 seeds in the growing medium in the Botanium, 1 centimeter deep in the center.
  • Grow in a bright window or under a grow lamp.
  • Seedlings will appear in 5-12 days.
  • Remove all seedlings but one.
  • When flowers appear, move pollen from one flower to the next with a brush or your finger.

Coriander (Coriandrum sativum)

This quick growing herb is best grown for its’ delicious foliage that can be added to salads, curries, and soups.

Contains 20 seeds. Height: Up to 30cm.

Instructions

  • Put 10-20 seeds evenly on the growing medium in the Botanium, and cover with a layer of growing medium.
  • Grow in a bright window or under a grow lamp.
  • Seedlings appear in 10-20 days.
  • Harvest the top leaves after 30 days of growth, leaving at least 50% of the plant to regrow.
  • Remove the flowers as they appear.

Tatsoi (Brassica rapa s. rosularis)

Originating from Japan, Tatsoi grows as a compact, thick rosette and has a mild, mustardy taste.

Easy and fast to grow.

Contains 20 Seeds. Height: Up to 20cm.

  • Plant 2 seeds in the growing medium in the Botanium 1 centimeter deep in the center.
  • Grow in a bright window or under a grow lamp.
  • Seedlings appear within 5-12 days.
  • Remove all seedlings but one.
  • Harvest the top leaves after 30 days of growth, leaving at least 50% of the plant to regrow.

Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)

A classic culinary herb with small, aromatic leaves that give a rich taste to meat and vegetable dishes.

Contains 20 seeds. Height: Up to 45cm.

Instructions

  • Put 5-7 seeds evenly on the growing medium in the Botanium.
  • Cover the seeds
  • Grow in a bright window or under a grow lamp.
  • Seedlings appear in 7-14 days.
  • Harvest the top leaves after 30 days of growth, leaving at least 50% of the plant to regrow.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) 

This dwarf plant yields masses of small, sweet cherry tomatoes. A compact variety that grows quickly.

Contains 6 seeds. Height: Up to 30 cm.

Instructions

  • Plant 2 seeds in the growing medium in the Botanium, 1 centimeter deep in the centre.
  • Grow in a bright window or under a grow lamp.
  • Seedlings appear in 7 days.
  • Remove all seedlings but one.
  • When flowers appear, pollinate the flowers with a brush, or your finger.
  • The plant may need supporting when tomatoes appear.

You can of course use any seeds as long as the plant doesn’t get too tall.
